Jonas Kaufmann makes a return to another one of his standout roles, headlining a new production of Wagner’s Lohengrin with Opera Australia at the State Theatre, Arts Centre Melbourne, under the direction of Olivier Py. Having performed the role already in Munich (2009), at the Bayreuth Festival (2010), at La Scala in Milan (2012) and at the Paris Opéra (2017), this is his fifth production of Wagner's opera. He is joined by Emily Magee as Elsa, Elena Gabouri as Ortrud, Simon Meadows as Telramund, Daniel Sumegi as Heinrich and Warwick Fyfe as Herald, conducted by Opera Australia’s Head of Music Tahu Matheson. Performances are held on 14th, 17th, 21st, and 24th May. Tickets and more information can be found here.
